PR Advice from Dear Old Dad

By June 7, 2017September 23rd, 2019Public Relations

Last month we talked about how Mom was a pretty savvy PR authority in her own special way. But let’s not forget about Dad. The typical Dad throws down some pretty good advice himself, especially when a situation starts to spiral out of control.

“Do you think money grows on trees?”
PR translation: Free publicity rules the day. Be creative in finding new ways to making it work for your brand on social media and beyond.

“Stand up for yourself.”
PR translation: Stay on message and don’t waver from your brand’s fundamental mission and ideals, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

“You are not going out dressed like that.”
PR translation: Remember the brand image you are trying to project and make sure everything you present in the public sphere reflects or enhances it.

“When I was your age…”
PR translation: Times change. Stay current, stay relevant and be sure to use the latest and most innovative technology available to help you do your job. You can start with Critical Mention, the fastest, easiest-to-use media monitoring platform on the planet.

“Ask your mother.”
PR translation:Make sure your organization’s executive management understands and supports the goals behind all of your messaging and campaigns. After all, they’re in charge (just like Mom was).

If you’re a Dad with something to add, leave a reply. Happy Father’s Day!
