| al qaeda is the most serious and dangerous threat to the united states.. that's according to a new report from the white house. and despite the global war on terror.. al qaeda has managed to protect its top leadership.. and has found a safe haven in pakistan's tribal areas. in a separate development.. a private intelligence organization's system of spying on al qaeda has been blown. the group says it can no longer intercept al qaeda's secret messages because a video it obtained last month was leaked to the press.. phares says : "that told al-qaeda that intranet or outer ring was compromised so they shut down for a while but they'll come back." and now the blame game has started over who leaked the information. the white house has tried to reassure people that this is an isolated incident and that informants should still feel secure coming forward with sensitive information. supporters of same-sex marriages are launching a multi-million dollar ad campaign in california this week. they haven't been able to legalize gay unions through lawsuits or legislation...so they're trying to sell people on the idea the same way advertisers might sell soap. mary snow has the story. it starts like a prime time tv drama... a bride falls...her veil gets caught...an old lady trips her...and that's where this california ad takes a turn saying... what if you couldn't marry the person you love? and the ad states, everyday, gay and lesbian couples are prevented from marrying. it's all part of a campaign supporting same sex marriage and it's aimed at changing people's minds by appealing to their hearts. the campaign's backers say: geoff kors/executiv e director of equality california institute the ad is designed to put people in the shoes of lesbian and gay people and understand the pain and hurt we feel by being denied the right to marry. in 2000, a california ballot measure banned same sex marriage. the california state legislature recently overturned the ban--but california's governor arnold schwarzeneg ger, says he plans to veto this latest measure-- just as he vetoed a similar effort three years ago. schwarzeneg ger (2004): "we rely on our courts to enforce our rule of law." a conservative group specializing in the defense of religious freedom, wants to ban same sex marriages--an d calls this latest ad propaganda. brad dacus/pacific justice institute if it's opened up to two men and two women, it can very easily be opened to protest polygamy or adult incest of any other unconvention al relationship outside traditional marriage .
