rock stars and medical stars unite in the upcoming issue of gq magazine, trying to get the word out that science is cool. we're introduced to one of the doctors being featured in the six-page spread. he just so happens to be from san diego. >> science is cool. science is where it is at. >> he is a rock star of the medical field. >> the main research is in heart attacks. >> dr. eric toppel will be featured in the magazine. >> when they first contacted me, i thought it was a prank. >> it is no prank, but a new ad campaign that will unite rock stars and medical stars aimed at making science sexy. >> we need more people doing this work. science is taking a big hit. >> dr. toppel is the only doctor joing the celebrities like cheryl crow. >> here i think i'm meeting the stars. i'm the one who is excited. they were just the opposite. they were saying how much of a treat and privilege it was for them to meet us. >> he is known for his research studying genes. >> there is more discoveries about the root causes of disease through this than the entire history of medicine. >> dr. toppel says he is no rock star. >> i was so bad in music, that in 9th grade, the band director asked me to take study hall instead of going for music. >> but he hopes he can help with the group. >> this is so exciting, secondly if they have any type of ability in science, math, they can do it. >> fox 5 news. >> and by the way, that hits stands may 28th.
