show. >> shaye: tim hortons, 2009 roar of the rings sponsors birthdays every day. batman has long been one of the d.c. comic's icon and an edmonton couple with a comic on their own have entered an on-line contest. if they win, one half of the dynamic duo could make history. su-ling goh reports. >> reporter: after 11 years together, quinn and robert have discovered a new passion. >> i dream and it at night. that is how obsessed we are now. >> reporter: the couple has always loved comic books. now they are creating their own. robert started writing them four years ago and found an artist on line but he need help adding his words to the art. >> i asked her, could you show me thousand letter? because when i would try, letters looked foolish and the balloons were the wrong shape. >> i showed him how to do it and then i was like, this is so much fun. >> she was a natural. she says it is harder than most people think. >> how to make the image flow nicely, and make the readers easily to read and sort of catch their eyes in a certain spot where we want the art to show. >> reporter: the couple is so talented, d.c. comics the creators of super man and batman have chosen their comic for a prestigious on-line competion. the prize is a publishing contract with d.c.. right now, they are neck in neck with a team from south america. >> so, yeah, it is turning into a big international battle. >> reporter: but far from the biggest challenge this couple has faced. in 2001, their car crashed in b.c. robert broke his leg. quen was paralyzed. [applause] >> reporter: five years later, quen graduated from the
university of alberta with a bachelor of education degree. if she wins the comic competion -- >> i would will be the first quadriplegic to letter comic books for d.c. comics m.p.. >> reporter: robert believes she would win for her ability. >> she is spectacular. she has such a design sense. she treats it's as part of the art work. >> reporter: though quen says he no hero, a victory would be super. >> i'm pretty proud. i hope i can be that. so that is why i want to win!
