Gsurvivors are often warned that flying can trigger a chronic swelling in their arm. but a
u of a researcher says those claims are outdated. the risk was previously believed to be triggered by the change in air pressure on flights. this woman conducted her own study using 60 breast cancer survivors. the women had their arms measured before and after a flight to australia where they were competing in a dragon boat festival. 95% of the women didn't experience any arm swelling at all. only one was found at possible risk for chronic swelling. >> it's been a longstanding concern for women with breast cancer. and we just really didn't know what the risk was. we would tell people we thought the risk was low, but we didn't know what it was. >> now we have concrete research evidence that women don't have to be afraid of flying and developing this. >> lynda: the results were revealed while women were practising for women's dragon boat festival this weekend. >> troops are getting ready to put their skills to the test. the soldiers spent the morning at hawrelak park traing for a triathalon. the soldiers lugged 15-kilogram sax on their backs. the race let's the soldiers prove they have what it takes.
