beyond. so pay attention to today's question. >> before we move let's find out what's going on with this winter storm, janice. how many inches? >> oh, let's say maybe an inch or so for most areas. but there will be parts of southern new jersey that could see as much as three inches. the storm is coming from the midwest and it's a fast-moving clipper storm. we're looking gnerally at an inch or less around the area. however-a cross southern new jersey and smabmost coastal areas as much as three inches possible by noon tomorrow. this is mainly going to be a friday morning storm. so if those of you who are out there who are going to be commuting in themorning, that's what you're going to have to deal with, the problems with slippy travel. otherwise, it dries out friday afternoon. the weekend is dry and sunny, but it's cold all over again, with highs in the 20s, lows in the teens, and those wind chills in the single digits through sunday p. that's a look at your forecast, ladies. back to you. >> all right, janice, thanks so much. the annual consumer electronics show kicks off today in las vegas, and cnbc's jim goldman's there with a preview of cutting edge technology. >> yeah, jim, can you show us some of the items they're planning to unveil this weekend? i love technology. >> cool stuff. absolutely cool stuff, guys. 3-d tvs, tablet pcs. but let me show you what i've got on the magic table because these are the things that are generating a lot of buzz. this is the dash from sony. it's an internet wi-fi entertainment and communication device. you put these $200 boxes all over your house, and via wi-fi you download your digital entertainment, photos, music, 1,000 apps. $200, available in april, coming from sony. super cool. and on the top there's a little snooze button. so if you get tired of what you're seeing on the screen, it goes to clock mode. very nice, very cool. we're familiar with those flip cameras from pure digital and cisco systems? this is sony's version. it's the bloggie. it's a whole family of these devices. the difference here is these actually shoot in 1080 full hd video. you plug this into your computer, instantly upload all of your cool videos to youtube or facebook, and you're good to go. a couple hundred bucks for this. and for the bicyclist and snowboarder in the house this is really neat. it's from a company called tune bug. not the helmet but this exciter. you plug this into your mp3 player, your ipod, you put it on your head, no ear buds, and through the exciter the vibrations actually let you listen to the music through your skull. unbelievable stuff. very cool. so you can still hear what's going on around you. some of the cool other things, electronic books, the kindle very cool. this is fray french company called bookine. this is a $250 device. super thin. 1,000 books. and it comes in a of these nifty cool colors. and before we go i want to let you see this. this is my friend rob. rob has invented these cool things. they're video name tags. l.e.d. two gigs of video storage, a couple hours, if you will, of video. they're ten hours? >> yeah. >> ten hours of video. turn around, robin, show them what you can really do with these things. come on. look at this. >> i don't know about that. >> you can upload your own video into this thing, and you give these to your kids or husband or somhing and they could be looking at you all day long. how cool is that? >> or you can -- >> i don't know if i like that. >> you can send your husband with video of you and then you just say -- so you know he's taken. >> but jim, what happens when i'm shopping and i don't want my husband to see i'm buying things and spending money? >> no, no, no, you would just upload video of yourself looking at him all dreamy and he would have that all day. and hey, you guys, i want to remind you, "planet of the apps" airs tonight on cnbc. all this great technology, the app store from apple has been an enormous success. 100,000 apps, 3 billion downloads. how can you hitch your wagon to this unbelievable digital gravy train? we're going to tell you tonight on cnbc, 10:00 eastern and pacific.
