hospital will use a 31 million dollar grant to study human development -- and disease prevention. more specifically, the research will look at how nutritional status and dietary factors shape human development and influence the likelyhood of childhood issues. for example, they'll explore a theory that overweight pregnant women send signals to their developing babies that can predispose them for obesity when they grow up. researchers plan to follow women throughout pregnancy and then study the babies' growth, development and metabloism thru their second birthdays. the recession will set the health and well-being of children and families back decades. that's from the 2009 child well- being index and special focus report. it says all progress made in the economic, health and education areas will be set back to 1975. cutbacks by government and families will result in poorer nutrition, education, police and fire protection. the study says that will give rise to more obesity and health problems, less education and a possible rise in crime. it's been a long time
